Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's first attempts to make it within the mainstream world of music failed. Perry was signed to two labels and was later dropped from them prior to the release of any music. Capitol Records did release Perry's Ur So Gay, which attracted a small amount of attention due to its jolly title. I Kissed a Girl - an ode to sexual curiosity dropped a couple of months later. It featured a hard electro-pop style and an assertive position. A few critics accused it of promoting homosexual relationships, while others claimed that the song's raunchy lyrics were designed to attract men with fantasies. I Kissed a Girl became an international number-one single due to the combination of sexual enticement and a refined melody. It also helped her sell more albums, such as One of the Boys. Hot N Cold, Perry's lively and sharply-tongued album that included the song that was its second biggest hit was a hit. The album Perry created by herself sold more than three million copies.
