Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). She became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
